The database was set up for the purposes of the EU funded projects AQEM and » STAR and is now further improved within the EU funded project » Euro-limpacs. This project deals with the evaluation of impacts of Climate Change on European freshwater ecosystems.
As the work on the invertebrate taxa database continues it has moved to a new place:» www.freshwaterecology.info
Data stored within freshwaterecology.info comprise amongst others the following ecological parameters: country and ecoregion distribution, saprobity, stream zonation preference, substrate or microhabitat preference, feeding type, life duration, locomotion type and many more. The ecological parameters can be individually combined and queried.
The freshwaterecology.info database is a "living document". We will extend the database by ecological parameters, which might be sensitive to direct or indirect impacts of Climate Change.
